Acupuncture for Fertility, Pregnancy & Women's Health in Hoofddorp
Gentle, trauma-sensitive care from your first months of trying to conceive through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery.
Your reproductive health story deserves care from someone who takes all of it seriously: the appointments and results, the waiting, the hope, and sometimes the grief. I'm Annette, an acupuncturist with 15 years of experience. I support women and couples through fertility challenges, pregnancy, labor preparation, and recovery after birth. My care is designed to work alongside your midwife, doctor, or fertility clinic, and never in place of them.
Trying to Conceive & Fertility Treatment
Whether you're trying to conceive naturally, preparing for IUI or IVF, going through a frozen embryo transfer, or coping with recurrent miscarriage, your treatment plan is built around your cycle, your history, and where you are in your medical care. Acupuncture can support circulation, nervous system regulation, sleep, and stress during a demanding time. Many women tell me it gives them a place to feel calm and supported.
Pregnancy
Pregnancy brings physical, hormonal, and emotional change. I can help with:
First trimester: nausea, fatigue, and digestive discomfort
Second trimester: pain, stress, and circulation changes
Third trimester: labor preparation (bevalling voorbereiding) and support for optimal fetal positioning, including breech
Every treatment is adapted for pregnancy, with gentle point stimulation, careful point selection, and comfortable positioning.
After Birth
The postpartum months ask a lot of your body. I can support recovery, energy, mood, and lactation. If you've had a C-section or other surgery, I also offer Dolphin Neurostim scar release therapy, a specialized approach that combines microcurrent with acupuncture to soften scar tissue and ease tension and pain.
Women's Health Through Every Stage
Beyond fertility and pregnancy, I treat the cycle-related and hormonal concerns that affect daily life, along with stress and burnout:
Painful or irregular periods and PMS
Hormonal changes and the transition toward menopause
Stress, poor sleep, and burnout
My Approach
My foundation is classical Five Element acupuncture, combined with Traditional Chinese Medicine, and bodywork when it's helpful. I believe Eastern and Western medicine complement each other. I would never ask you to stop a medication you need. My focus is on helping you live well alongside your medical care.
My care is trauma-sensitive. I'm HeartMath trauma-sensitive certified, and you set the pace: nothing happens without your consent, and we go as slowly as you need.
I'm also a Senior Practitioner with the Obstetrical Acupuncture Association (OBAA), and a member of NVTCG Zhong. I hold a Master of Acupuncture and I'm NCBAHM-certified (DiplAc).
What to Expect
Your first appointment (75-85 minutes) includes a full intake and your first treatment, so you leave having already experienced acupuncture. Follow-up sessions are shorter.
Where & How
Sessions take place at Puur Geboortecentrum in Hoofddorp. I also offer home visits in Hoofddorp and the immediate area, and I can visit midwifery practices on location. Appointments are in English, Spanish, or Dutch.
Common Questions
Is Acupuncture safe during pregnancy?
I adapt every treatment for pregnancy, and I'm happy to coordinate with your midwife when that helps you.
Can I combine acupuncture with IVF or IUI?
Yes. Acupuncture is often used alongside medical treatment. Please tell your clinic that you're having it, and we'll time sessions around your cycle and your transfer or procedure dates.
When should I start?
Many women begin a few months before trying to conceive or starting treatment, but you can start at any point, including during a cycle or in pregnancy.
Will my insurance reimburse me?
Some supplementary insurance policies reimburse acupuncture. See the Insurance Reimbursement page for details.
